HOW DO WE EXPRESS IT?

Our priority has always been and continues to be to bring the love of God to all people. We do this in several ways:

  • Worship – Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings during Advent and Lent

  • Service – Providing support for the ministry at home (within the congregation) and in the community not only of believers -- but all people!

  • Music – Choirs and special music enhance the worship

  • Sunday School – Providing Bible-centered teachings, fun, snacks, and crafts for the previous children of members and non-members alike!

We also give thanks with the family of Faith by serving the congregation in many ways:

  • Altar Guild – supports the worship experience with altar preparations

  • Choir – all are invited to come and rehearse to enhance our worship together

  • Church Council – a group of elected members who provide leadership and decision making for the well-being of the congregation

  • Memorial Garden – provides comfort for those who mourn by offering a resting place for the ashes of loved ones in a beautifully-landscaped setting where the lives of those who have gone before us can be celebrated.

  • Care Team – a group of members and friends who pray for people in times of challenge or celebration, make prayer shawls, reach out with cards and visits as needed.

  • Worship Committee – Supports the Pastor in worship styles, music and themes

  • Finance Committee – Provides direction and support for financial fitness

What ministries beyond our Faith Family touch our lives?

  • Five Loaves House Food Pantry: This ecumenical effort provides food to the hungry in our community. It is supported by most of the churches and synagogues in the area with non-perishable items collected regularly. We also encourage members and friends to help with shelving and distribution of goods at the Five Loaves House located on Fire House Road in Pocono Pines.

  • TOMEC (Top of the Mountain Ecumenical Council): A group of members and friends from the various churches and synagogues which comes together monthly to share in the community issues. This group also provides for special services for Thanksgiving, Prayers Services, Peace Services and Ash Wednesday. These services are rotated among the TOMEC members and their places of worship.

  • Meals-on-wheels: Our members and friends participate in the Monroe County Meals on Wheels distribution program. Volunteers, every fifth week, provide three days of service during lunch hour by delivering hot meals to those designated as in need by the county.

  • White Gifts for the Nursing Home: Our members and friends collect small items wrapped in white tissue paper to hand out as gifts to nursing home members. This meaningful gesture assures that even those without family will receive something like hand creams, gifts sets, or other items appropriate which are not provided by the care of the facility.

  • Christmas Gifts for Children: This project is also part of TOMEC. Each congregation receives a number of names of children with ages and sizes so that we can supplement the Toys for Tots campaign by purchasing much needed clothing items for the child we select. Gifts are then distributed along with the toys the week before Christmas.
